about

"Oftentimes I look for a way to identify myself within language and fail. The duality of growing up bilingual and biracial was an integral part of my worldview from a young age.
I was confused and fascinated by language and struggled to find myself within its limits, especially when I discovered I was queer. Constantly, I was searching for the right labels for myself and this ongoing quest is deeply rooted in my art practice.

Through an almost meditative state I intuitively start drawing and writing, using a small mechanical pencil, the pieces take a lot of focus and time to create. With mark-making and asemic (wordless) writing, I express what I cannot through words and figurative images.
This results in intimate detailed abstract drawings, which I collect into site-specific two-dimensional installations and connect with drawings and texts scattered throughout the space in a non-hierarchal manner.

Inspired by speculative fiction written by queer, female and BIPOC authors, I envision a fictional world in which pure (physical and social) equality could exist.
In my fragmented texts I draw parallels to the physical world by using concepts such as black holes, gravity and chaos/entropy and dissecting them to better understand these abstract ideas."
